High Protein Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls have got to be one of the easiest ways to create a super delicious and nourishing meal and the combinations are endless.  Generally a smoothie bowl will be thicker than a smoothie,  too thick to slurp through a straw.

Silken tofu makes a perfect base for smoothie bowls, as it has enough water content to blend without additional liquids, and forms a thick, ice-cream like consistency.  You can add ground flaxseed, avocado and nut butters to thicken it further.  Plus tofu is rich in plant-based protein, calcium, iron and selenium.

Once you have your smoothie bowl base it’s just a case of choosing which toppings you want to add to complete your pretty smoothie bowl, or you can pour it over chopped fruit.  If you want to increase the protein content further you can add plant-based protein powders such as rice and hemp powders.

Smoothie Bowl Toppings:

  • Berries
  • Nuts such as almonds and walnuts
  • Chia seeds
  • Hemp Seeds
  • Tahini
  • Anything you like!

  1. Wow what a great idea using silken tofu for smoothie bowls! We’ve never heard of that before. That’s a great way to add some extra nutrition and protein without having to resort to using a bunch of bananas. We will give it a try! 🙂

    1. Yes its a great way to work protein into your diet! And it creates a really thick and creamy texture, of course you can add more or less tofu/soya mylk to make it how thick you like 🙂 Enjoy!
