I first created this site to share nutrition and wellness information after my travels around the world and my path into becoming vegan, which began somewhere between New Delhi and New Zealand during my first big journey across India, South East Asia and the land of the long white cloud.
I want to show that eating a whole foods plant-based diet can be varied, nourishing, affordable and taste amazing at the same time. And in the process of choosing optimum nutrition we can promote compassion for all living beings and reduce our impact on the planet.
Originally from a small rural village in Wales, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Cardiff Metropolitan University. I went on to practice in clinical nutrition in London working in various specialities to include stroke, cardiology, surgery, gastroenterology and intensive care. I got to see first hand the impact of poor diet on the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
It wasn’t until I left my job and London life behind to venture off solo backpacking around the world that I made the deeper connection between my food choices and my spiritual wellbeing, the environment and animal welfare.
During my time living in Bali I had the opportunity to immerse myself in many healing, nourishing practices of meditation, energy work, yoga, dance and nutrition. Here I spent time learning about the health benefits of eating a whole foods plant-based diet and how this can reduce our environmental impact and animal suffering.
Following my return to the UK I pursued additional studies in Plant Based Nutrition devised by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study, learning about the true cost of animal products to our health, and the ever growing body of scientific evidence that supports a whole foods plant-based diet as the most nutritious, health optimising and disease preventing way of eating.
I have just recently returned from another journey in India and South East Asia having spent time living in Goa, Chiang Mai and Bali. Here I’ll be sharing evidenced-based nutrition and holistic wellness advice on how you can be nourished through a wholefoods, plant-based diet and healthy lifestyle practices, as well as lots of nourishing recipes inspired from my travels.
